Science-Informed Teaching
Well-established research confirms that music contributes meaningfully to brain growth and personal well-being (Niland, 2015). Children naturally gravitate toward music, and given that music is a universal human need, the early years are the time to begin musical engagement. As the influential philosopher and educational theorist Plato remarked, “I would teach children music, physics, and philosophy; but most importantly music, for the patterns in music and all the arts are the keys to learning” (as cited in Niland, 2015).
The Power of Music
Victor Hugo states that “[m]usic expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent” (as cited in Dinham & Chalk, 2018).
